Application recommendation: How to dose correctly
Regular check-ups are crucial
Check the chlorine level in your hot tub at least once a week using SpaTime test strips. The ideal level is between 1.0 and 1.5 mg/L (equivalent to 1.0–1.5 ppm). Adjust the level with chlorine granules if necessary.
Important: Ensure that chlorine is present in the water at all times to prevent water treatment problems. If the chlorine level drops too low, bacteria and algae can multiply rapidly.
Dosage after each use
After each use of your hot tub, add 5g of chlorine granules per m³ of water (equivalent to 1,000 liters). For a hot tub with a 1,500-liter water capacity (such as the Koller Weinviertel), you will therefore need 7.5g per use.
With the circulation pump or filter system running, add the chlorine granules directly to the water. This ensures quick and even distribution throughout the hot tub. Let the pump continue running for at least 15-20 minutes to allow the granules to dissolve and disperse completely.
Important tip: Check the pH level before chlorination.
Before adding the chlorine granules, you should definitely check the pH level using SpaTime test strips. The correct pH level should be between 7.0 and 7.6.
Chlorine granules can only work optimally at the correct pH level. If the pH level is too high (above 7.6), the disinfecting effect of the chlorine is significantly reduced – you waste a lot of chlorine without sufficient effectiveness. If the pH level is too low (below 7.0), corrosion damage to metal parts can occur.
Adjust the pH level with suitable pH regulators if necessary before adding the chlorine granules.
Shock chlorination if required
If your water becomes cloudy, smells unpleasant, or the chlorine level drops significantly despite regular chlorination, perform a shock chlorination. Dose two to three times the usual amount (10-15g per m³). Let the filter system run for at least 4-6 hours and do not use the hot tub again until the chlorine level has dropped to the ideal range of 1.0-1.5 mg/L.
