The Higi XL follows the classic log cabin construction method, which has been used in Scandinavian timber construction for centuries. Solid logs made of Nordic spruce are stacked horizontally on top of each other and interlock thanks to precisely milled notches at the corners.

The wall planks are 45mm thick – a proven dimension that offers an optimal balance between stability, thermal insulation, and weight. Nordic spruce grows slowly in cool climates, resulting in dense, uniform wood with a low tendency to warp and crack. The material is untreated and can be stained, oiled, or varnished according to your wishes.

The four-way corner milling is the hallmark of high-quality log cabin constructions. Instead of a simple overlap, the logs interlock at the corners with precise milling – the result is a particularly stable, warp-resistant corner joint that remains tight and secure even after years.

This construction method has crucial advantages: The solid wood stores heat exceptionally well and releases it evenly. The structure is breathable and naturally regulates humidity. You don't get an artificial climate control system, but rather a natural indoor climate created by real wood.

The floor consists of 28mm thick solid wood tongue and groove boards, resting on impregnated foundation beams as a substructure. This construction protects against ground moisture, allows air circulation under the building, and ensures a dry, healthy indoor climate.

The door is equipped with a high-quality door handle and profile cylinder lock and comes with three keys. A stainless steel threshold ensures easy access and long-lasting quality. These details demonstrate that even in a kit, professional components are used.

The anteroom serves several important functions: It acts as a changing area where you can undress, lay out towels, and prepare for your sauna session. After the sauna, it offers a space to cool down and relax before you go back outside.

The anteroom acts as a climate lock, improving energy efficiency. When you enter the building, you only open the outer door to the anteroom – not directly to the sauna. This retains the valuable heat in the sauna and minimizes energy loss. Especially in winter, when there are large temperature differences between indoors and outdoors, this buffer makes all the difference.

From the anteroom, a high-quality, all-glass sauna door (1.90m x 0.70m) leads into the actual sauna room. This door is made of specially tempered sauna glass that easily withstands the extreme temperature loads.

These two windows are made of specially tempered sauna glass, designed to withstand extreme temperatures. The glass easily withstands the differences between the hot interior and the cool outside air, provides excellent insulation, and remains clear and transparent for years.

The sauna benches are available in two sizes: The upper bench measures 60cm x 200cm and offers ample space for relaxed sitting or lying down. The lower bench measures 50cm x 200cm and creates a second level for different temperature zones or additional seating for social sauna sessions.

Aspen wood has very low thermal conductivity – it heats up slowly, even at high temperatures. You can lean back or stretch out comfortably without burning yourself on hot wooden surfaces. This comfort factor is crucial for long, relaxing sauna sessions.

Furthermore, aspen is virtually resin-free and develops hardly any odor, even in intense heat. Infusions with essential oils can thus develop their pure, unadulterated flavor. The recommended Harvia Legend Home XW electric sauna heater with 10.8kW output offers easy operation and precise temperature control. Simply program the desired temperature, and the heater will reliably heat the room. Ideal for regular use and spontaneous sauna sessions after work.

Alternatively, the Harvia Linear Compact 18 with 14.3 kW is available – a high-quality wood-burning stove with a BImSchV2-compliant kit for low-emission combustion. The wood-burning stove creates an authentic sauna experience with the characteristic scent and crackling of a real fire. Consciously tending the fire becomes a meditative ritual.

DIY kit – For those who want to do it themselves

The Higi XL log cabin sauna is delivered exclusively as a kit. A pre-assembled version is not available. This decision is based on sound reasoning: Self-assembly allows you to personally inspect the quality of each individual component, experience the craftsmanship of the log cabin construction, and ultimately be proud of your own creation.

All components are precisely prefabricated and numbered. A detailed assembly plan guides you step-by-step through the assembly process. High-quality assembly materials are included. With some DIY skills, a little patience, and at least one other person, assembly is quite manageable.

Building a log cabin sauna is more demanding than building a simple garden shed, but with the right preparation and care, it's certainly doable. Important: You need a level, load-bearing foundation. A concrete slab, paving slabs, or a point foundation are best suited. The impregnated foundation beams are laid on this foundation and form the base for the entire structure.
